Overview
The better we understand how browsing works, the quicker we can perform updates. Not much new to learn here, but knowing the shortcuts can make a big difference. Besides, browse windows are a great place to give the mouse - and your wrist - a rest, and use the keyboard instead.
Browse / Edit Window
Keyboard only
| • | To display a subset of the products If the highlight bar is in the black panel, press the Up and Down arrows. If it's in the browse box, hold down the Ctrl key and press Tab to move it into the black panel, then press the Up and Down arrows. |
| • | To sort the browse box by name Hold down the Alt key and press N. To sort by size, hold down the Alt key and press S. |
| • | To locate the first product that begins with a "D" Make sure the highlight bar is in the browse box, then press the letter D. |

Mouse, Keyboard, and Buttons
Click the Delete button to delete the highlighted record. Keyboard: Press Del. To suppress the "Ok to Delete" window from popping up, hold down the Ctrl key and press Del.
Click the Add button to add a new record. Keyboard: Press Ins.
Click the Update button to edit the highlighted record. Keyboard: Hold down the Ctrl key and press Enter.
The Number 1 button lets you designate any product as your primary product (the product you quote on most often). When the Print Quote window opens, it will open with your primary product preloaded.
Click the Find button to search for a record. Keyboard: Press F4.
Click the Zoom button to view the highlighted record in detail. Keyboard: Press F5.
The Icons

A check mark tells you it's a program-generated standard product, currently active and available for Quotes. A red bullet shows a standard product that you've deactivated with the Delete button and thereby blocked from being used in Quotes. An empty circle signifies a program-generated mandatory product that can't be deactivated. A Number 1 Icon identities your current primary product, the product your Quote window will default to when it opens. No icon means it's a self-made product, one you generated yourself. You can delete those as quickly and as easily as you made them. |
Standard Products are products created by the program. They can't be deleted, but their status can be changed from active to inactive, and back again, by clicking the Delete button. Mandatory Products, needless to say, can neither be deleted nor deactivated. Products of your own making are the least persistent. When you delete a product you created yourself, it's not deactivated - it's deleted from the file.
