Quoting Carbonless

Overview

Just as e-mail has cut down on fax transmissions, the availability of forms software has taken a big bite out of Carbonless. Why preprint a form when the computer can generate it as it's entering its contents. Still, less Carbonless being used is far from No Carbonless being used, so Morning Flight allows you to quote both single sheets and precollated sets.

Precollated Sets

1.ButtonPricerFrom the Main Menu, click the Quote button.
2.Click the F2 button, then click Carbonless in the black panel.
3.Double-click Carbonless Forms, 8-1/2 x 11, 3-part.

ANote

Morning Flight has automatically selected in-Stock Carbonless Paper to match. To change the color sequence for this Quote only, continue with the steps below. If you normally buy Precollated Sets in a different color sequence, go to My Store > My in-Stock Paper and change the sequence there.

4.Click the button to the right of the F3 button, or hold down the Ctrl-Key and press F3.
5.Click the Colors button.
6.Click the third Radio button (or press Alt-3), then click Blue. That will change the bottom sheet in the Carbonless Set from Pink to Blue.

ANote

When you're changing the Color Sequence, you're also switching from in-Stock Paper to Special Paper, and that will almost certainly change the price. What's more, the paper may not come precollated in the color sequence your customer is asking for. Morning Flight treats all Carbonless Sets as precollated, so you may need to build collating charges into the paper cost as well. If, on the other hand, the alternate sequence is stocked by your vendor and you get regular calls for it, you may want to add it as a new set to either your in-Stock Paper or Buy-as-Needed Paper.

Single Sheets

Single Carbonless Sheets are quoted as plain Sheets (Carbonless Bond and Ledger) or Cards/Label (Carbonless Index, Bristol, or Tag). Using a heavy CF (coated front) backer is rare these days. Probably not the kind of paper you'd want to add to your in-Stock file. When you do have occasion to use it, increase the price a little to factor in collating.

Copies and Digital

Morning Flight does not inherently support Carbonless Forms printed on a Copier or Digital Press. It can be done, even in the Free Edition. What you do is create of a series of Copy or Digital Products, with the cost of collating and padding built in. But it's a "light" solution at best, lacking the refinement necessary to quote large quantities.

1.ButtonStore Click the My Store button, then click My Products.
2.In the black panel of the Product Selection window, click Copies.
3.In the white panel, highlight Copies, C1/0, 8-1/2 x 11.
4.ButtonAdd Click the Add button to create a new Copy Product.

5.In the Name field, enter "Carbonless Forms, 2-part."
6.Click the Prices button.
7.Multiply your standard Copy prices times two. Add a small, fixed percentage to each price for collating and padding.
8.Click Ok to accept the Copy Prices, then save the new Product. Note that Morning Flight automatically added "C1/0" to the description to identify this as a Copy Product.
9.Create new Copy Products for 3-part, 4-part, 5-part, and 6-part Forms. Multiply your standard Copy prices times the number of parts (three for 3-part, four for 4-part, and so on).
