Overview

This topic describes how to translate memo clips and salutations, and the names of products, paper items, and My Things. While Morning Flight's built-in program translator lets you convert what you see on your monitor, here you're able to translate what your customers will see on your quotes and estimates.

What are "My Things?" User-defined prepress, postpress, and packaging.

Built-in Products and Paper Items

Names of built-in products and paper items come pre-translated into the six Morning Flight languages (English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish). You can use the program's translators to customize those names to your liking. Naturally, in any language, an envelope should still represent an envelope, not a post card or a letterhead.

TranslateProducts

1.From the main menu, select File > Translate > Product Names.
2.In the black panel, click to select your Language.
3.Translate the English Product Name displayed in the left column and enter the translated name in the right column.
4.Click the up or down arrow (or press PgUp or PgDn) to turn the page. Turning the page automatically saves the changes.
5.Do the same for paper colors.

User-created Products, Paper Items, and My Things

When you create a new item and give it a name, Morning Flight places that name (the same name) into all six language slots. There's no translator for user-defined items. That means you'll need to translate the name yourself, but only if you're serving a multi-lingual market.

Say your shop is located in German-speaking Bern, Switzerland, and you also serve customers in French-speaking Lausanne. You would likely be running the program in German, so "Briefköpfe" would be saved as "Briefköpfe" in all six languages. To change it to "En-têtes de lettre" for your customers in Lausanne,

1.Select File > Translate > Product Names.
2.In the black panel, select French. Enter En-têtes de lettre in the right column. The translation will stick when you close the window.
