Updating PaperShop Paper

Overview

This topic describes how to add or update PaperShop Paper. Only three factors distinguish PaperShop Paper from Buy-as-Needed Paper:

The vendor for PaperShop Paper is always the primary vendor, the first record in the Morning Flight Vendor file. For Buy-as-Needed Paper, you can have a different vendor for each item.
The PaperShop file comes pre-loaded with the xpedx Stores Printer Price List. The Buy-as-Needed file is delivered empty. Unfortunately, for now, so is the PaperShop file. The last XPEDX Stores price list we received is dated July 2005. It would surprise me if those prices were still valid. Once we get our hands on an updated list, and provided we get the go-ahead from XPEDX, we'll make the pre-loaded file available on the PrintFire web site for downloading.
The Buy-as-Needed file is dynamic and persistent, designed to be maintained and updated. The PaperShop file is disposable, a throwaway, to be used the same way you use a phone directory. Yes, there are update facilities, but they're there strictly for convenience.

Those are the differences. In all other respects, the two categories are identical, including how you add and update.

Caveats

There are a few. First and foremost, XPEDX Stores prices are clearly valid in the United States only. They're of little use anywhere else.*

Second, there are no price guaranties, either expressed or implied. Prices may change - on a dime - without notice! Need to be sure? Call your local XPEDX Stores Representative.

Third, before you add or update paper here, know that when you download and install the latest version of SVSFile.TPS, the PaperShop data file, your own entries will be overwritten by the new data. That's changes, additions, everything. The new file is a replacement, not an add-on.

If you do want to preserve a specific paper item, even if that item happens to come from XPEDX, don't save it in the PaperShop file. Save it in your Buy-as-Needed file instead.

*International Distributors

The name of the PaperShop file generated by Morning Flight is SVSFile.TPS, located in the application directory (C:\Program Files\PrintFire\MorningFlight by default). Here is how you can generate and distribute, in your country and elsewhere, a PaperShop file in which XPEDX paper is replaced with the paper you're offering:

1.Download and install Morning Flight, either the Free or the Silver Edition.
2.If the program is running, close it.
3.Go to the directory in which you installed Morning Flight (C:\Program Files\PrintFire\MorningFlight by default) and delete the file named SVSFile.TPS.
4.Open the program. That will generate an empty SVSFile.TPS file.
5.Select File -> Update PaperShop Paper.
6.ButtonAdd Click the Add button, then load your paper items.

When you offer the modified SVSFile.TPS file to your customers, ask them to

1.Locate the original SVSFile.TPS on their computer.
2.Replace it with the file you're supplying.
3.Replace the name and address of their current primary vendor (My Main Vendor by default) with your company's name, address, and contact information.
