Advanced Jet-Entry

Overview

Intended mainly for quick telephone quotes, Jet-Entry is surprisingly versatile once you get used to it. Fast doesn't always imply loose. The same engine that powers the conventional Morning Flight program also drives Jet-Entry. The wires and nuts and bolts may be out of view, but you can still trust the numbers.

In this chapter, we'll explore some of Jet-Entry's hidden talents.

3.Change the first quantity to 500, then click Reorder without Film Changes. Click OK.

4.Enter BOY in the F2 box.

ANote

We're assuming here that none of our products start with BOY. Booklet envelopes, book pages, book covers, yes, those we have, but no BOYs that we know of. By entering an arbitrary third letter (X-Y-Z ... any letter that's unlikely to get a hit), we call up a pick list that includes every product beginning with BO. Incidentally, all entries are case insensitive. BOY or Boy, it's all the same to Jet-Entry.

What about Ink Colors?

Let's change our 4-color on front, black on back run to 4-color on front, PMS 300 on the back. As we've discovered in the previous chapter, when we enter our run configuration, the first two digits represent the number of colors, front and back. The third tells the program whether any of those colors are black - Y if yes, N if no. That changes our entry from 41Y to 41N.

ANote

Because we're using PMS 300 instead of Process Cyan for the color run on the back, Morning Flight has added an extra color wash. Note the extra blue dot in the Jet-Entry window. Clicking on the ink region will give us itemized prices and identify the color as PMS 300.
